A personal saga for museum science - NTU museum
outreach activities

NTU Museums (or NTU Museum Group) were established
in the year of 2007. NTU Museum of Zoology, like other member museums, was
started before WWII during Japanese colonial rule and based on individual
professors’ collections. As one can
imagined, the collections were neglected after the war and subjected to various
disadvantaged fates. Fortunately, the zoological collections survived and
regained new life when NTU Museum Group was launched. However, difficulties
lingered. Since 2007, we have embarked on a priority outreach program in an
attempt to earn public support and to recruit citizen scientists. In this presentation,
I will demonstrate how we have made substantial progresses in the last 10
years. I trust our experiences is to set a good example to run a university
museum/collection for the benefit of universities and general public.

臺大博物館的社區深耕服務

台灣大學生命科學系暨動物博物館 教授
臺灣大學博物館群創立於2007年。臺大動物博物館是隸屬於博物館群的成員館，館藏來自臺大前身臺北帝國大學的動物學講座日籍教授的研究收藏。戰後，隨著日籍教授的離去，藏品受到忽視可想而見。然而自從博物館群成立以來，動物博物館首先從社區深耕服務作起，辦理許多科學教育活動和開創教具的設計，逐步迎取大眾的支持，進而活化了原有的館藏。目前，積極創導公民科學的契機，讓大眾理解並參與大學研究活動。我們的努力足以作為經營大學博物館的借鏡。
